Completed Written Works

Books

Though this list is a bit sparse at the moment, I hope to add at least one of the three novels within the Marcus Saga shortly (anticipating Book 1:  Laying Down Arms).  Until then, please visit the link to my first complete novel and add it to your shelf and/or watch list.  And please spread the word to your friends and colleagues should you like the book.

Growing Up in the Shade

Keeping up with the Joneses is no longer the pursuit of a dream, but of a family that is real, human, and larger than life.

Despite having a test pilot turned cowboy for a father and a world renowned photographer for a mother, Lilah is a sheltered young woman. She has spent the majority of her life with her nose buried in books rather than taking advantage of her unique opportunities. She loves the written word, and has set her mind to becoming an author. Her only obvious shortcoming is her lack of real world experience. Fortunately for her, she has a few well connected friends in high places, the Joneses of New York.

Maxim, the eldest Jones heir, presides over the family business while his playboy baby brother, Theo, runs the Public Relations department and constantly moves from one affair to another. Their world comes to a halt, however, when Lilah pays them a visit in her attempt to live life while gathering material for her novel. Through her visit she not only reconnects with her childhood friends, but she uncovers family secrets that have been hidden for years.

"Keeping up with the Joneses" is nothing to Lilah. The real question is, can the Joneses keep up with her?

Comments from Readers:
One thing that really struck me about this is your knack for dialogue. Have you considered adapting it into a screenplay?

Crossroads Series: Playing with Fire (working title)

What if the Devil wasn't always evil and Angels weren't always good?  What if their love of humans change the very fabric of their lives, their existences, and the future of humanity?

This is the story of how the Devil, among others, comes to know the Fairchild sisters, and the toll those relationships take on them and countless others.  Amelia and Peyton are sisters from a small farming town, but grow up to be two very different people united by their love for each other, if nothing else.  Amelia moves to New York to escape her conservative, protestant upbringing as she tries to make it on the stage.  Peyton leaves home to become a missionary in a small rural town in the middle of the country to prove to herself and her family that she has what it takes to do mission work abroad.  Both girls are strong and believe deeply in what they hold dear, and while both set off on seemingly opposed paths, they are inevitably tied together.  Both meet men in their journeys, and those men turn out to be both more and less than what they could have hoped.  Where one loves a man surrounded by darkness and the other loves one surrounded by light, the question is not who loves the better man, but whose forbidden love will endure?  And what are the consequences when that love meets an end?

Short Stories

Apart from only focusing on novels, I have tried my hand at a few short stories.  The genres vary,  but I like to think that both are appealing in their own way.

Death Stitch

Set in occupied France during WWII, a French seamstress is forced to serve the soldiers of the enemy through her repairs and ministrations to their uniforms and other clothing items. The unsuspecting soldiers who patronize her shop do not know of the horrors she's experienced at their fellow soldiers hands, nor do they realize the revenge she has set in motion with each stroke of her needle in her death stitches.

Case 42

A story full of twists and turns, it's both horror and suspense. Driven mad by the teasing of one of his students, Dr. Greene embarks on a crazed quest for revenge against those who have wronged him from the university he was recently forced out of to the woman who wronged him, all while consumed by the madness that has been pressing him to the brink for months if not longer.

The Baronet

Set against the backdrop of the Queen Victoria's jubilee celebration, a seamstress comes to the aid of a baronet after he risks injury to save a child from an oncoming carriage. She tends his wounds and repairs his garments while trying to ignore the attraction she feels for the handsome young noble. What happens between them is a secret they both carry long into the future.

Fire Within

This story is told from Daniel's perspective, a five year old boy, who is witnessing his first New Year's Eve in the town square of the small village he, and his parents before him, has grown up in.  It takes a dramatic shift from the comfortable family scene leaving the square to the nightmare that unfolds for him later that night.  Everything he thought he knew and took for granted is suddenly turned on its head as flames the likes of which the town hadn't seen for more than a decade burst forth from his very home.  And secrets that were long hidden come to light.
